The name of our boat is hope. And it’s not because we place our hope in the boat. It is because we have a better hope that is strong and secure, mightier than the anchor that holds our boat. This hope is found in Jesus Christ! He is our anchor Who keep us solid and firm. And unlike the anchor on our boat, our hope in Christ will never slip, fail, or let us down. He is powerful and dependable and One we can always trust. This hope is an anchor for our soul!
When Kory and I were pondering and praying about what to name our boat, the Bible verse from Hebrews 6:19 became our theme: “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast.” With Christ as our anchor, no power of darkness can alarm us, and no earthly opposition can harm us. So we gladly take hold of this hope set before us (Heb. 6:18). “On Christ the Solid Rock we stand. All other ground is sinking sand.”
As we prepared to embark on this huge journey of moving from land to sea, as with the rest of life, we knew we must rely on the Lord to guide us, secure us, protect us, keep us on the right path, and show Himself strong on our behalf. So we trust and follow Him. He is reliable when we are not. He is strong when we are weak. He is steady when we are on shaky ground. He is a safe refuge when we are in a storm. He is our stability when we have run adrift. He is our hope when all else breaks. For hope in Him will never cease!
